Have you been looking forward to buying your Build-to-Order (BTO) flat this 2020?
The Housing and Development Board (HDB) has postponed the sales exercise for BTO flats this May until further notice. The announcement was made on 24 April 2020 due to the circuit breaker measures amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The HDB have deferred the launch of 3,700 BTO flats in Choa Chu Kang, Tengah, Pasir Ris, and Tampines. About 160 assisted living flats for seniors in Bukit Batok are also affected.
How will the sales exercise deferment impact future launches?
The HDB typically holds four sales exercises for new flats each year in February, May, August and November.
They have scheduled the release of 4,100 BTO flats in Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Geylang, Tampines, and Woodlands in August. Is this launch likely to be affected?
Our HDB Sales Manager, Clarence Liang says, “The circuit breaker measures implemented due to the COVID-19 situation have caused uncertainties to the property market and disruptions to the home buyers’ plans. The deferment of the May BTO sales launch exercise may have a domino effect on the subsequent two launch exercises in August and November as they may be further pushed back. However, rest assured that HDB will assess the situation and determine the best time to launch the next and subsequent exercises.”
