Are you a visionary who’s bursting with creative ideas? Here’s something to look forward to in Singapore’s District 14 (Rest of Central Region – RCR).
Take your imagination to new heights by re-imagining the future of Paya Lebar Air Base and the neighbouring industrial estates for the “Runway for your Imagination” ideas competition, a way for residents to share their vision on how the area can be transformed while embracing its unique aviation history.
This relocation of Paya Lebar Air Base in the near future presents endless exciting possibilities, one where a vibrant township is slated to be built.
Plans for the 800ha site and its surrounding industrial estates include building a sustainable new town with plenty of amenities to meet the needs of future residents as well as a major employment node. With these exciting developments in the works, houses in the area are expected to be popular with working professionals and expats since residents will be able to live, work and play in close proximity.
Interested participants can choose one out of three topics and submit a proposal.
What are the topics?
For the first topic “Concept Master Plan”, you are to develop overarching ideas and concepts to illustrate the vision of how the airbase and surrounding industrial areas can be redeveloped into a sustainable community in the 2030s and beyond.
The second topic “Transforming the Runway”, invites you to think of ways to transform the runway into an inclusive community space for people of all ages and abilities.
The third topic “Rejuvenating Paya Lebar Airport” requires you to design a unique precinct that utilises the former airport buildings such as the control tower and hangars.
Members of the public can take part in either the ‘Open’ or the ‘Tertiary’ category, with attractive cash prizes to be won for winning entries.
You can find out more and sign up for the competition here. The closing date for submissions is 27 March 2020.
