Serangoon is a mature housing estate in the north-east region of Singapore, it is home to an estimated resident population of 70,100. The area was enlivened when the centrally-located NEX shopping mall integrated with a bus interchange, and the Serangoon Circle Line station were completed in 2010.

Reputable schools can be found easily in Serangoon, including Rosyth School and St. Andrew Secondary School. Popular schools like Paya Lebar Methodist Girl’s School (Primary & Secondary), St. Gabriel’s Secondary, Maris Stella (Primary and Secondary) are near Serangoon Central. Other Primary Schools nearby are: Yangzheng, Cedar, Zhonghua, Xinghua and CHIJ Lady of Good Counsel.
There are also reputable secondary schools such as Zhonghua, Bartley and Yuying. Students are also able to take further studies in tertiary institutions such as the Singapore Institute of Commerce, La Salle College of Arts and Nanyang Junior College. The Australian International School is only a five-minute drive from Serangoon Gardens.

Serangoon is conveniently served by Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and bus services via the Integrated Transport Hub. Two stations serving the residents are Boon Keng and Serangoon MRT stations. The 7-storey NEX Shopping mall is fully integrated with the Serangoon Bus Interchange and the Serangoon Interchange Station, where the North-East Line and the Circle Line intersect.
