Were you disappointed when the Housing and Development Board (HDB) announced the delay in the Build-to-Order (BTO) sales launch last May 2020? Good news! You can look forward to the August and November BTO exercises instead.

Last 29 May 2020, the HDB announced that they were combining the May, August, and November BTO exercises to accommodate buyers who could not apply during the circuit breaker measures. These launches include an estimated 3,700 flats in Choa Chu Kang, Tengah, Pasir Ris, and Tampines, as well as some 160 assisted living flats in Bukit Batok.

So if you’re interested to buy a BTO flat soon, this may be your chance!

HDB announces BTO launches in August and November 2020

In August 2020, 7,800 BTO flats in Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Choa Chu Kang, Geylang, Pasir Ris, Tengah and Woodlands will be up for grabs.

For the November 2020 launch, the HDB will offer 5,700 flats in Bishan, Sembawang, Tampines, Tengah and Toa Payoh.

Also, the HDB announced the flats in Choa Chu Kang, Tampines North, and Tengah will have shorter waiting times.

Critical HDB services to resume on an appointment basis

Starting 2 June 2020, the following services will be available on an appointment basis:

  • Booking of flats
  • Key collection for rental and new flats
  • Signing of agreements of lease
  • Resale completion of resale flat transactions and transfer of flat ownership
  • Financial counselling on assistance measures
  • Housing inspections for ongoing resale transactions
  • Critical maintenance works

On 8 June 2020, appointments will be scheduled progressively by the HDB for these services:

  • Signing of tenancy documents
  • Issuance of keys for commercial properties

Delay of construction projects

With the suspension of construction activities during the circuit breaker period, buyers can expect as much as a six-month delay for certain BTO projects. In addition, the regulation of strict safety procedures to curb the spread of COVID-19 at workplaces may add to the waiting time.

HDB and contractors from the Building and Construction Authority are working closely together to safely resume construction projects in phases. Flat buyers can check the updated completion dates of the certain projects via the My HDB Page account.
