Are you thinking of buying a property in the quintessential Westside town of Jurong? Having earned a not-so-flattering reputation for being “ulu” or far from everything, we’ve rounded up the top 4 places to visit in Jurong that every family with kids would love and make even die-hard East siders contemplate moving there.

1. Science Centre Singapore

A childhood fixture for every kid who grew up visiting the Science Centre for the annual school field trip, the Science Centre have evolved from a purely educational destination to one that families go to for voluntary fun and adventure. Enjoy a feast for the senses as your little ones learn scientific knowledge while tinkering with larger-than-life exhibits. Venture over to the IMAX theatre for a multi-sensory movie-watching experience you won’t get in your average cinema. Get there by taking bus 66 or 335 from Jurong East MRT station.

2. Chinese Garden

Alight from Chinese Garden MRT station for a welcome reprieve from the hustle and bustle of city life, the Chinese Garden is your ticket to some actual peace and quiet. A breath of fresh air for the kids (and some much-needed digital detox), visit the Garden on a weekend for a tranquil scroll amongst stunning Asian-inspired architecture or put your photography skills to the test and take some unique shots at the Garden’s many Instagram-worthy spots such as the Cloud Piercing Pagoda and the Bridge of Double Beauty.

3. The Rink

Skate your heart out – on ice! – within the convenience and creature comforts of a shopping mall. J-Cube, to be exact. A cool date spot to add to your bucket list, family and friends alike can also make a fun day out of it as ice skating is enjoyable for the whole gang. Never skated before? Don’t worry! There are adorable Penguin Aids available for rent that’s meant for beginners to lean on and get the hang of skating on their own time. Parents, do note that toddlers may have to sit this one out as children must be at least 3 years old to skate.

4. Snow City

At times, even a trip down to the swimming pool can’t quite cool us down from the sweltering heat these days. Before you start blasting your air-con, we suggest bringing the family down to Snow City and experience the joy of a winter wonderland without the pricey flight ticket! Enjoy family-fun in sub-zero temperature as you sled down the 60-meter long snow slope and start a rousing snowball fight around the snow playground. Simply alight from Jurong East MRT and take bus 66 or 335 to get your ultimate snow fix.

Is the Westside calling your name? With this much to see and do in Jurong, you and your family will never run out of ideas for fun, quality time that you won’t find anywhere else in Singapore. Find property listings in Jurong now!
