Why Should You Live in Sengkang?

The housing developments in Sengkang are known for their nautical-themed names, harkening back to the town’s past.

It was the first satellite town to have its major public transport amenities built in tandem with the main public housing development. The Sengkang Light Rail Transit (LRT) system was developed as the existing public housing blocks were being built in the late 1990s. Commuters alighting at Sengkang MRT station have direct access to the bus interchange, a shopping centre with a private condominium and the LRT network.

For foodies that are on the lookout for exciting dining options, there is Jalan Kayu, a popular food street which is accessible by direct bus services and a short drive via Sengkang, where you can find the famous roti prata as well as a decent steak dinner.

The redeveloped Seletar Aerospace Park (SAP) is the next foodie enclave to head to. The first phase of The Oval @ SAP which was launched late 2016 features five food and beverage tenants within walking distance of one another. Highlights include Youngs Bar & Restaurant which serves modern European cuisine, Wheeler’s Estate and The Summerhouse.

Leisure and Recreation

Sengkang’s main shopping centre, Compass One, is a one-stop mall that serves residents’ needs and includes a library within it.

Sengkang Riverside Park which has a constructed wetland and rich biodiversity is a favourite of nature lovers. Visitors can hike on the trails to get close to the inhabitants of the marshland. The constructed wetland doubles up as a wildlife habitat and attracts a variety of mangrove birds and damselflies.

For sports enthusiasts, you can participate in various sports activities at the Sengkang Sports Centre, where the Sengkang Hockey Stadium is housed.
