Is this the year to buy your dream home? The Pag-IBIG Fund announced recently that members can apply for home loans for as low as 4.985% per annum until the end of 2020. This new rate is the lowest ever offered for the Regular Housing Loan program. The measure is part of the Philippine government’s efforts to boost the national economy and counter the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing quarantine measures.

“By offering these special rates to our members, we are spurring economic activity in the housing industry, which has a ripple effect on the national economy,” said Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Eduardo D. del Rosario, who is also Chairman of the Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees.

According to Colliers International, the Philippine economy has shrunk by 0.2% in the first quarter of 2020 from last year. This worsened in the second quarter with a contraction of 6.7% when the quarantine measures were extended, taking a heavy toll on domestic demand and business, including demand for residential real estate.

“This is a win-win situation because our members get to take advantage of these home loan rates, while their purchase of their homes will help generate more jobs to help get our economy back on track.” Sec. del Rosario added.

What are the new rates for Pag-IBIG housing loans?

Pag-IBIG is offering a special rate of 4.985% per annum for housing loans under a one-year repricing period from its previous rate of 5.375% per annum. The agency is also offering a lowered 5.375% per annum on housing loans under a three-year repricing period from its previous rate of 6.375% per annum.

However, the interest rates for its Affordable Housing Program for low and minimum-wage earners will stay the same at 3% per annum.

Until when is the Pag-IBIG housing loan promo rate valid?

According to Pag-IBIG Fund CEO Acmad Rizaldy P. Moti, the Pag-IBIG Board approved the promo rates last 9 July 2020. Moti added that the promo rates can be enjoyed by incoming loan borrowers until December 29, 2020.

“We want to help members who are thinking of buying a home to take advantage of our lower-than-lowest rates,” Moti said. “Even amid the pandemic, now is the best time to buy a home with a Pag-IBIG Housing Loan.”
